"Challenges make you discover things about yourself that you never really knew. They´re what make the instrument stretch—what makes you go beyond the norm." -- Cicely Tyson

Words of Wisdom - 15

"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." -- Charles Darwin

Words of Wisdom - 14

"There isn't a ruler, a yard stick or a measuring tape in the entire world long enough to compute the STRENGTH and capabilities inside you." -- Paul Meyer

Words of Wisdom - 13

"Bigness comes from doing many small things well. Individually, they are not very dramatic transactions. Together, though, they add up." -- Edward S. Finkelstein

Words of Wisdom - 12

"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" is a common saying. Its meaning comes from the fact that the age of a horse is determined by looking at its teeth - hence if you get a horse as a gift, looking at the horses teeth to determine the age (acceptability of the gift) is considered to be rude.

How often do we pre-judge or determine the value of a gift we are given WITHOUT giving any thought about the intent of the giver and/or the impact 'inspection' of the gift has?

In the true spirit of acceptance - we first accept the gift for what it is, use it to its best advantage and express our gratitude that someone thought enough of us to make the offering in the first place.
Remember - a gift is given because the giver sees a potential benefit for you that you may not be able to see yourself PLUS, in someway you have asked for this gift - otherwise it would not have been presented to you.

"Don't be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated. You can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
David Lloyd George

Words of Wisdom - 10

"You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand."

Woodrow Wilson

Words of Wisdom - 9

"Know how to serve in terms of the customer. They don't care what your situation is -- they only care about their situation, their problem. Are you serving them in terms of them or you?"

Jeffrey Gitomer

Words of Wisdom - 8

"Things don't go wrong and break your heart so you can become bitter and give up. They happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be."
Charlie "Tremendous" Jones

Words of Wisdom - 7

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole, which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in  it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water, at the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house." The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?" "That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Words of Wisdom - 6

"Acquire the courage to believe in yourself. Many of the things that you have been taught were at one time the radical ideas of individuals who had the courage to believe what their own hearts and minds told them was true, rather than accept the common beliefs of their day".
Ching Ning Chu

"Some men have thousands of reasons why they cannot do what they want to, when all they need is one reason why they can."
Mary Frances Berry

Words of Wisdom - 4

"To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our personal life, we must first set our hearts right."
Confucius

Words of Wisdom - 3

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home.

Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she manoeuvred her walker to the elevator, she was provided with a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on
her window. "I love it," she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

"Mrs.. Jones, you haven't seen the room .... just wait."

"That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied.

"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it  "It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up.  I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away ... just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account ... you withdraw from what you've put in.  So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories. Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank. I am still depositing.  Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.

2. Free your mind from worries.

3. Live simply.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less.

"Reflect on your present blessings, of which every man has many; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some."
